Packaging and Storage
Materials are delivered in rolls 1.6–2.1 m wide and 20–25 m long. Materials should be stored on flat ground and in a closed area. Stored products must be kept away from direct sunlight, heat, and ignition sources. If PVC cover rolls need to be stored outdoors for a long time, they should be covered to protect them from sunlight. Smoking is not allowed in the storage area.
Spiked Geomembrane: An Innovative Advancement in Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical engineering plays a fundamental role in the design and implementation of infrastructure projects. With traditional materials and techniques, many problems such as soil stabilization, water management, and environmental protection can be addressed. However, engineers are constantly seeking more efficient, durable, and sustainable solutions. In this context, “spiked geomembranes” stand out as a revolutionary material and technology.
What is a Spiked Geomembrane?
Geomembranes are synthetic membranes used to prevent water, chemicals, or other harmful substances from seeping into the ground. These membranes are typically used to insulate soils that come into contact with the ground in large construction projects. However, conventional geomembranes can sometimes be tearable or prone to puncture.
Spiked geomembranes are designed to increase the durability of conventional geomembranes. These membranes stand out for their multi‑layered structure. They usually consist of protruding spike strips placed on top of a main membrane. This design increases the membrane’s durability while preventing the ground from seeping into the subsurface.
Advantages of Spiked Geomembranes
Spiked geomembranes offer many advantages:
Higher Durability: The spiked structure reduces the risk of tearing or puncturing the membrane, providing long‑term durability and reducing maintenance costs.
Waterproofing: When used for water sealing, spiked geomembranes prevent water from seeping into the ground, making them ideal for irrigation projects and reservoirs.
Chemical Resistance: They are resistant to chemical contact, making them suitable for waste storage areas and chemical facilities.
Environmental Protection: Spiked geomembranes help minimize environmental impacts in soil and water protection projects.
Application Areas
Spiked geomembranes are used in various application areas:
Waste Storage Areas: Used to prevent leaks in solid waste storage areas.
Irrigation Ponds: Used to insulate water‑holding ponds in agricultural areas.
Environmental Protection: Can be used to prevent erosion on sea coasts, riverbanks, and in environmental protection projects.
Industrial Facilities: Used to prevent leaks in chemical and industrial facilities.
Spiked geomembranes are an innovative material and technology that help geotechnical engineers develop more efficient, durable, and environmentally sustainable solutions. These membranes are useful in various application areas by preventing water, chemicals, and harmful substances from seeping into the ground. In the future, spiked geomembranes will continue to contribute to making infrastructure projects safer and more sustainable.
